SC Freiburg vs Bayer Leverkusen – Bundesliga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction
This Friday, Bundesliga action will continue on Match Day 29 – just days after Match Day 28 came to end on Wednesday.
Bayer Leverkusen will also be playing their 29th league appearance of the season. They took a terrible defeat to Wolfsburg earlier this week on Tuesday (1-4). That was the only defeat for Bayer Leverkusen in six Bundesliga matches; WDWWWL. It sent them two spots down the table from 3rd place to 5th. Bayer Leverkusen remains with 53 points after scoring 53 goals and conceding 36 this season. They have 16W, 5D and 7L after 28 Bundesliga appearances. Coach, Peter Bosz will probably use his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation against Freiburg on Friday. Kai Havertz who was on the end of a double against Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend was unable to score against Wolfsburg last on Tuesday. But, his 10 goal-tally this season will still be a source of worry for Freiburg. Havartz has also put in five assists to his name.
Meanwhile, Freiburg will be at their home ground for this match – which is also their 29th league appearance of the season. They come off a 3-3 draw against Frankfurt and remain 7th on the league table with 38 points. Freiburg have recorded only one victory in their last six Bundesliga matches; LLWDLD. They have scored 38 times and have conceded 40 at their own end. Freiburg has 10W, 8D, and 10L so far this season. Christian Streich, Coach of Freiburg will likely adopt a 3-4-3 formation with the attacking trio of Holler, Sallai and Waldschmidt. Meanwhile, Nils Petersen who scored against Frankfurt on Tuesday to take his tally of goals to 9 will be a threat to Bayer’s goal. The prolific striker will be gunning for a goal or two this Friday when both sides meet at Schwarzwald-Stadion.
The first leg which took place in November last year ended 1-1. Previously, they played in March, 2019. That match ended 2-0 in favor of Bayern Leverkusen. Before those two games they played a goal-less draw.
Both sides need a victory to get back on track but Bayer Leverkusen, despite the defeat earlier in the week will be more determined to return to third place on the league table.
A 3-1 victory Bayer Leverkusen is predicted at full-time.
