This Sunday, Bundesliga action will continue as Match Day 27 gets underway with three matches lined up for the day.

RB Leipzig came off with a draw (1-1) against Freiburg last weekend and will now take on Mainz 05 for their 27th league appearance of the season. Leipzig has not lost a single game in their last six Bundesliga matches; DWWDDD. They are 4th on the table with 14W, 9D and 3L and have earned 51 points from 26 Bundesliga appearances. With a goal average of 1.3 per game, they have managed to score 63 goals this season. A 3-1-4-2 formation from Julian Nagelsmann is expected with Yussuf Poulsen and Timo Werner leading the attack. Timo Werner has scored an impressive 21 goals this season. He also has 7 Bundesliga assists to his name.

Meanwhile, Mainz 05 will also be playing their 27th league game of the season after picking up a draw (2-2) against FC Koln. They have only two victories in their last six league matches; WDLWDD. Mainz have 27 points from 8W, 3D and 15L after 26 league appearances. They have conceded 55 goals – one of the highest in the league behind Paderborn (54), Augsburg (54) and Werder Bremen (59). Achim Beierlorzer will select his best XI and probably adopt a 4-2-3-1 formation. Robin Quaison who has scored an impressive 12 goals this season with 2 assists to his name will be looking to stretch his tally come Sunday.

The first leg of this fixture ended 8-0 in favor of Leipzig. Marcel Sabitzer (5’), Timo Werner (30′), Christopher Nkunku (35′), Marcel Halstenberg (38′) and Yussuf Poulsen (44’) gave Leipzig a 5-0 lead at the end of first half. A brace from Timo Werner (48′, 57’) and another goal from Nordi Mukiele (50’) condemned Mainz to an embarrassing defeat.

Before then, they met in May 2019 and it ended in a draw, 3-3. Mainz are currently floating above the relegation zone and would do everything to come out of this encounter with at least a draw. However, Leipzig looks more likely to take all three points at full-time.

A 3-1 victory for RB Leipzig is predicted.
