Atletico Madrid vs Real Betis – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 36 continues with Atletico Madrid taking on Real Betis on Saturday the 11th of July, 2020, at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

After taking the lead less than 60 seconds into the game, Atlético Madrid could and should have done much better than just draw 1-1 in Vigo with Celta on Tuesday. Following Wednesday’s matches the Rojiblancos were 3rd on the table, on 63 points from 35 games. Their current form reads; DWDWW. Atlético have 16W, 15D and 4L, having scored 47 goals and conceded 26, which leaves them with a 21GD. Coach Diego Simeone played a 4-4-2 formation in Vigo, with Álvaro Morata and Marcos Llorente up front. It was the former who scored Atleti’s goal, his 12th of the season in La Liga, in 31 appearances. No other Atlético player has scored more than six goals in the championship this season.

Real Betis hosted Osasuna on Wednesday and made things look very-very easy for them. They took the lead just in the 4th minute, by the 25th they were 2-0 up, missed awesome chances to score more, and they finally did celebrate a third goal, even in added time. Their current form reads; WDLLW. Following Wednesday’s matches Betis were 13th on the table, on 41 points from 35 games. They have 10W, 11D and 14L, having scored 47 goals and conceded 55, which leaves them with a -8GD. Coach Alexis Trujillo chose a 4-4-2 formation against Osasuna. It’s interesting that all three goals were scored by guys who had not scored before in this La Liga campaign. Guido Rodríguez, Alfonso Pedraza, Carles Aleñá, all three experienced a wonderful feeling they had not enjoyed in any game earlier this season.

The reverse fixture, which took place in December 2019, was a 1-2 Atlético Madrid victory. Last season, it was the hosts who celebrated in both matches; Betis won 1-0 in Sevilla, and Atlético by the same score, 1-0, in Madrid.

It’s rather common seeing Atlético win without… dazzling with their football, and the same could easily happen in this game as well.

A 1-0 victory for Atlético is predicted at full-time.
