Levante vs Atletico Madrid – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 31 continues with Levante taking on Atletico Madrid on Tuesday the 23rd of June, 2020, at Estadio Camilo Cano.

Levante had lost their last five away games before the suspension of the season, but these last 10 days they have looked very different. First, they drew 1-1 at Valencia, and then on Saturday they beat Espanyol 1-3 in Barcelona. Their current form reads; WDDDL. Following Saturday’s matches, they were 11th on the table, on 38 points from 30 games. Levante have 11W, 5D and 14L, having scored 37 goals and conceded 43, which leaves them with a -6GD. Coach Paco López played a 4-4-2 formation on Saturday, which definitely paid off. Borja Mayoral scored his 6th goal in 26 La Liga appearances this season, Enis Bardhi his 3rd, while Levante’s third goal was an own one, scored by Espanyol’s Adrià Pedrosa.

Atlético Madrid had to… suffer before scoring on Saturday, but once they took the lead against Real Valladolid, not earlier than in the 81st minute, they managed to protect it, and leave the pitch with all three points. Their current form reads; WWDWD. Following Saturday’s matches they were 3rd on the table, on 52 points from 30 games. Atlético have 13W, 13D and just 4L, having scored 38 goals and conceded 22, which leaves them with a 16GD. Coach Diego Simeone played a 4-4-2 formation on Saturday, with Álvaro Morata and João Félix up front. Vitolo was sent in with something more than 15 minutes left to play, and soon after that he scored the only goal of the match, his third of the season in 22 appearances.

The reverse fixture, which took place in January, ended in a 2-1 Atlético Madrid win (all three goals were scored between the 13th and 18th minute!). Last season, the Rojiblancos registered another win at home over Levante (1-0), but all they managed as visitors was a 2-2 draw (scoring twice in the second half, coming back from 2-0 down, despite playing with 10 men!).

Levante have done very well since the restart, well enough to make someone trust them to earn at least a draw against Atlético, despite the Madrid side’s unquestionable superiority, quality-wise.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at full-time.
