Osasuna enter their third La Liga (LL) match of the season as an outsider at home, having secured draws in each of their previous two encounters, placing them in good stead to find their fourth win in six home games when taking on Real Sociedad.
The hosts have certainly played a part in some entertaining fixtures of late, with eight of their last 11 LL matches seeing both teams score, six of those 11 producing at least three goals, and the half-time result being replicated at the final whistle in just five.
Similarly, nine of Sociedad’s last 11 LL contests have also witnessed goals from both sides and even over 3.5 total goals on five separate occasions in that run of 11! Sociedad have been trailing at both half-time and full-time just once on the road this season, so they too may contribute to a dramatic late twist in the match.
Sociedad are more likely to make an impact early in the contest, however, as they have opened the scoring in their last five LL away trips (when excluding 0-0 draws), but have gone on to lose two of those five matches.
Players to watch: Chimy Avila (OSA) has found the back of the net in three of his last four LL appearances, as well as three of his last four specifically at home.
In addition to four in LL this season, Mikel Oyarzabal (SOC) has recorded assists in each of his two career meetings with Osasuna.
Stat attack: Sociedad are conceding just 3.89 corners per away LL game – the joint-second fewest in the division after 17 weeks.
Osasuna have lost three of four LL away matches (D1) against teams in the top half of the table after week 17.
Referee Juan Martínez Munuera has awarded four penalties in his eight LL appearances.
