Real Valladolid vs Barcelona – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 36 continues with Real Valladolid taking on Barcelona on Saturday the 11th of July, 2020, at Estadio Municipal José Zorrilla.

Real Valladolid visited Valencia on Tuesday, and, as predicted here, they lost by one goal (2-1). Should be mentioned though that Valencia scored the winner in the 89th minute, in other words, Valladolid went really close to leaving Mestalla with a point. Their current form reads; LWDDD. Following Wednesday’s matches they were 14th on the table, on 39 points from 35 games. Valladolid have 8W, 15D and 12L, having scored 29 goals and conceded 39, which leaves them with a -10GD. Coach Sergio González played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Valencia. Víctor García scored Valladolid’s goal, on his debut(!). That was the 23-year-old’s first goal in La Liga in general, as he had played only in lower divisions before last Tuesday.

Barcelona hosted Espanyol on Wednesday, did not really play well, but still won the game, 1-0, pushing their city rivals down to the second division. Following Wednesday’s matches Barcelona were second on the table, one point behind leaders Real Madrid (who had not hosted Deportivo Alavés yet). Their current form reads; WWDDW. Barcelona have 23W, 7D and 5L, having scored 79 goals and conceded 36, which leaves them with a 43GD. Coach Quique Setién played a 4-3-1-2 formation against Espanyol. With Antoine Griezmann once again in the starting lineup. He and Lionel Messi combined before Luis Suárez sent the ball to rest at the back of the net in the 56th minute, the only goal of the match. Ansu Fati was sent-off in the 50th minute, for a super clumsy foul on an opponent. Thankfully for Barcelona, Espanyol had a player sent-off as well, for a 95% similar foul, just three minutes later.

The reverse fixture, which took place in October 2019, was a 5-1 Barcelona victory. Last season, the Blaugrana beat Real Valladolid twice, 1-0 at home, and 0-1 away.

One way or another, Barcelona should win this game.

A 1-2 victory for Barcelona is predicted at full-time.

Date: Saturday, 11th of July, 2020.
