Paris Saint Germain
Strasbourg vs PSG
Ligue 1 Champions, PSG will travel to Stade de la Meinau for their 28th league appearance of the season against Strasbourg. The French Champions are coming off a 4-0 league match win over Dijon last weekend. That was their fifth win in the last six league games; WWWDWW. Now, Thomas Tuchel will have a chance to get another ‘W’ when his side travels to Strasbourg. PSG has racked up an impressive 68 points from 27 league appearances and have scored an impressive 75 goals this season – conceding only 24 goals. That leaves the Champions with a +51 GD – one of the best in all of the top leagues in Europe. A 4-4-2 formation is likely with Cavani and Icardi leading the attack while the likes of Mbappe might come in from the bench later on.
Meanwhile, 10th place Strasbourg will be looking for a chance to grab at least a point when they face off with the 8th time Ligue 1 Champions. Coming off a 3-0 loss to Montpellier last weekend, Thierry Laurey knows getting all 3 points from this fixture will not be an easy feat. That loss was his side’s second in their last six games; LWWDDL. Strasbourg has managed to score 32 goals this season. Ironically, they have let in the same number of goals; 32 and have a GD of 0. So far this season, Strasbourg has 11W, 11L and 5D. A 3-4-1-2 formation with Ajorque and Waris leading the attack for Strasbourg is expected. Thierry Laurey will be looking for at least one point when his side faces off against the best striking force in all of France.
The last time both sides met, it ended 1-0 in favor of PSG. Neymar scored in the dying minutes of the game to give PSG all three points. The French Champions had most of the ball possession, 62% and had 16 shots at goal. However only 7 were on target. Meanwhile Strasbourg had 38% ball possession with 6 shots at the goal and 3 on target.
PSG’s Thiago Silva remains injured along with Colin Dagba while Abdou Diallo whose recovery has been proceeding slower than the club expected remains doubtful. Meanwhile, Alexandre Djiku of Strasbourg returns in defense, after a spat with coach Thierry Laurey over being forced to play in midfield.
Paris Saint-Germain averages nearly four goals per game and we will likely see a high margin victory for the boys in blue. A 3-0 victory is predicted for PSG at the end of this fixture.
