Arsenal vs Chelsea
Two longtime Premier League players meet for the first time as managers when Arsenal and Chelsea tangle in Sunday’s London Derby.

Fixtures are coming fast for Arsenal’s new boss, giving Mikel Arteta an opportunity to quickly turn “The Gunners” misfortune around. Arsenal has only one win in their last six matches; DLWLDD. A terrible record which saw the dismissal of Unai Emery and ushered in a new era with ex-Arsenal player turned coach.

Arsenal managed a 1-1 draw in their last match after falling behind by a Dan Gosling goal 35’ into the game. Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang scored 28 minutes later to level the score line. Arsenal’s performance was below expectation but it might take a while for their new coach to exert his ideas on the team.

This season Arsenal has scored 1.3 goals per match having a total of 25 goals in 19 premiere league appearances. They record an average of 54.6% ball possession and boast of 12.1 shots per game. Arsenal sit 11th place on the league table probably because they let in too many goals. Their defense has let in 28 goals in total and have a goal difference of –3. Arteta should be concerned about this and must find a way to prevent his side from conceding so many goals if Arsenal will climb higher on the league table.

Meanwhile, Chelsea lost by two goals to Southampton in their last match. Leaving them with only two wins from their last 7 premiere league matches; LWLLWL. Frank Lampard was shocked with the result as he expected an easy win, considering Southampton looked like an easier side on paper.

Chelsea has an average of 1.7 goals per match this season. In 19 premiere league appearances they have scored a total of 33 goals and a conceded 27. They have 34 points and sit 4th on the league table. A total of 59 matches have been played between Arsenal and Chelsea. Arsenal have 19W while Chelsea has 22Ws. Eighteen (18) of those matches ended in a draw. The last meeting between these two sides ended 2-0 in favor of Arsenal. Thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette (14′) and Laurent Koscielny (39′) who scored in front of 59, 979 spectators at the emirate stadium.

Despite the score-line, it was Chelsea who dominated the game with an impressive 667 total passes whereas Arsenal had 355 passes. ‘The Blues’ also manage a 65% ball possession while Arsenal had 35%.
