Burnley FC vs Manchester United.

Manchester United bounced back from an ugly 2-0 loss against Watford with a solid 4-1 victory against Newcastle on Boxing Day. The Red Devils got off to a slow start and were down on the scoresheet within the first 20 minutes. A barrage of goals in the final minutes of the first half allowed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men to equalize and establish a lead. Manchester united will be looking to end the year with another victory when they visit Burnley at Turf Moor.

Manchester United and Burnley have met 122 times and The Red Devils have a clear edge against them; W60, D21, L41. United won 5 times in the last 10 meetings between both sides; W5, D4, L1. United has 30 goals in 19 league appearances. 17 of them shared between their most lethal duo; Anthony Martial (11) and Marcus Rashford (6). Mason Greenwood who scored a fantastic left footed screamer from outside the box against Newcastle and Scott Mc Tominay have 3 goals each.

The last meeting between these two sides ended 2-2. Paul Pogba (87’ P) and Lindelof (92’) scored for United while Ashley Barnes (51’) and Chris Wood (81’) scored for Burnley. Despite the score-line it was Man. U who dominated the game with an impressive 28 shots – with 9 on target and a 75% ball possession. That match saw United complete a total of 650 passes to dwarf Burnley’s 228 passes. This time around the ‘Red Devils’ will be looking to have both performance and score line in their favor.

Meanwhile, Burnley who lost their last match by a lone goal to Everton will be without Benjamin Gibson and Aaron Lenno. Jeff Hendrick will return after serving a suspension while Ashley Barnes is also expected to be on the bench.

Scott Mc Tominay came off at half-time against Newcastle with a suspected knee injury and is expected to miss this match. Barring any injuries or suspension, Ole Gunnar will likely start with a similar formation as against Newcastle. Pogba may get his first start the season after returning from long ankle injury.

The match kicks off at 7:45 (UK Time) with referee Sean Dyche at the helm of affairs.
