Liverpool vs AFC Bournemouth

After the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea and elimination from the FA Cup, Liverpool returns home to face AFC Bournemouth for their 29th league appearance of the season. Their last premier league match ended in a 3-0 loss to Watford and it was the only defeat of the season so far; WWWWWL. It was an unexpected result considering the side they lost to were in the ‘waters’ of relegation. Jurgen Klopp will now try to look beyond the league defeat and get back to winning ways. Klopp is set to play his favorite 4-3-3 formation with the familiar trio of Sadio Mane, Salah and Firmino. All three together have scored 36 goals for Liverpool so far this season and were seen in the Reds’ Thursday’s training at Melwood ahead of this fixture.

Meanwhile, the Cherries will come off a 2-2 draw against Chelsea to face Liverpool at Anfield. That was their only draw in their last six games; LWWLLD. Bournemouth is sitting in the relegation zone at 18th position with only 27 points from 28 league appearances but could climb up temporarily into the safe zone pending the results of West Ham and Watford. Bournemouth have lost as much as twice – 15, the number of games they have won this season, 7. They have 6 draws and have only managed to score 28 goals so far. They have let in 45 goals and have a staggering –17 goal difference. Coach, Eddie Howe will be hoping for a miracle when his side faces Liverpool on Saturday knowing behind his mind that his team may be able to pull a surprise win against Liverpool just as Watford did. He will be playing a 4-3-3 formation with Fraser – Wilson – King leading the attack against Liverpool.

The last time both sides met it ended 3-0 in favor of Liverpool. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (35’), Naby Keita (44’) and Mohamed Salah (54’) were the players who scored for Liverpool. The Reds dominated that game, having a ball possession of 74% while Bournemouth had only 26% ball possession. Liverpool completed an impressive 852 passes while Bournemouth had only 305 passes.

On injuries, Bournemouth have a long list of injured players who will be unavailable for this game. Luckily for Liverpool, none of their key players are injured except for Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita who remains doubtful.

Bournemouth have lost 8 of their last 9 away matches in the Premier League while Liverpool have kept a clean sheet against Bournemouth in their last 5 games in all competitions.

A 2-0 victory is predicted for Liverpool.
