Tottenham vs Manchester United

After crashing out of the UEFA Champions league thanks to a 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the second leg of the UEFA Champions league round of 16. Tottenham will welcome Manchester United to their turf for their 30th league appearance of the season. Tottenham’s last premier league match was a 1-1 draw against Burnley. That match left Spurs with 3W, 2L and 1D in their last six league matches; WWWLLD. Jose Mourinho will arrange his team in a 5-4-1 formation with the intention of stopping Manchester United from advancing beyond the Tottenham’s defense. His formation will also make up for his decimated attack as his side remains without Harry Kane and Heung Min-Son. Dele Alli who couldn’t find the back of the net against Leipzig will likely lead the attack again as the sole striker while Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Celso and Winks will be in the midfield. Jose will be looking to put the result of the Champions League defeat and exit behind him ahead of this game.

Meanwhile Manchester United who will be away from home come off an impressive 2-0 league match victory over city rivals, Manchester City. That result left the Red Devils with 1L, 3W and 2D in their last six league matches; LDWWDW. The last time we saw United was in the UEFA Europa Cup match against LASK in which they won 5-0. That result puts Ole Gunnar in high spirits ahead of Sunday’s fixture. A 4-3-1-2 formation is expected from him with Anthony Martial and perhaps Odion Ighalo who is yet to find his first premier league goal for Manchester United leading the attack. Bruno Fernandes who was instrumental in the defeat of Manchester City will be behind the duo while Fred, Matic and Scott McTominay will be behind him to provide the necessary support required as United searches for a goal.

The first leg of this tie ended 2-1 in favor of Manchester United. Marcus Rashford scored in the 6th and 49th (Penalty) minute of the match while Dele Alli scored Tottenham’s only goal. Manchester United had 46% ball possession while Spurs had 54% of the ball. The red Devils completed 441 passes while Spurs completed 497 passes.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at the end of this fixture.
