Watford vs Manchester United

After a 1-1 draw against Everton last weekend, Manchester United will be traveling away to Vicarage Road against Watford United. The storm seems to have quelled for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United side thanks to 2 wins and 2 draws in their last 4 premiere league matches (DWWD). Coupled with an impressive 3-0 win against Colchester in the EFL Competition, The Red Devils are confident they will take 3 points off The Hornets. United has a 1.5 goals per game ratio and have scored at least one goal in their last six games. With an average possession of 52.6% per match and 14.6 shots per game, United will surely have plenty of chances on goal. Considering 5.5 shots on target per game, its likely Ole’s side will get a goal against Watford before the end of the game or at half-time.

Solskjaer will likely come with a 4-3-2-1 or 4-5-1 with Anthony Martial leading the attack while his defense remains much the same as the one against Everton. Watford is coming off a 2-0 defeat against Liverpool, and sit at the very bottom of the premiere league table (20th) with 9 points. Having only 0.5 goals per game and a 45.5% ball possession, Watford might be able to score a goal – considering they were unable to score in their last match. Considering Watford’s 11.6 shots on goal per game, Watford has a very poor conversion rate to say the least.

The Hornets are having a torrid season (LDLLL) and may get relegated at the end of the season. The last time they won a league match was against Norwich in early November.

The last time both sides met was in March, the game ended 2-1 in favor of United, thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford (28’) and Anthony Martial (72’). Watford recorded 20 shots at goal and only 8 on target – converting only 1, while United had 8 with 5 on target and converted 2 of those. Possession between both sided was 52% (United) and 48% (Watford).

United will be without Paul Pogba who remains sidelined with an ankle injury while Eric Bailly is out of action due to a knee injury. This match-day 18 encounter between United and Watford will surely have a goal or two and we predict a 2-1 in favor of United.

The match kicks off at 3PM UK Time and will be officiated by referee, Nigel Pearson.
