After a promising run of four competitive victories in a row that saw Atalanta score over 2.5 goals on three occasions, ‘La Dea’ lost their last Serie A (SA) outing 2-1 at Bologna. That match followed a season-long trend as 13 of Atalanta’s 16 SA fixtures have now featured over 2.5 goals, whilst their average of 3.94 total goals per match is a league-high.
Yet Atalanta have been unconvincing at home (W3, D1, L3) and are winless in the last three H2Hs held here (D2, L1). There should at least be entertainment though, as there’s been over 3.5 goals in six of their seven SA home matches this season.
AC Milan’s goalless draw in their last game summed up their problem this season, as the ‘Rossoneri’ have netted an average of just 1.0 goals per game (the division’s fifth-lowest) and have found the net more than once on just three occasions.
The visitors can take faith from the fact they have scored four of their nine away league goals across their last two road trips, winning both. However it should come as no surprise that all eight of their SA away matches so far have been decided by a one-goal margin (W4, L4).
Players to watch: Ruslan Malinovskyi has scored both of his career SA goals across the last two league matches, being Atalanta’s first goalscorer each time.
Meanwhile, Krzysztof Piątek has scored three of his four SA goals on the road, and netted a brace in Milan’s 3-1 win in the previous H2H.
Stat attack: Atalanta have scored 14 goals across their last five home league matches (W3, L2).
Milan have conceded six of their nine SA away goals after half-time.
Eleven of Atalanta’s 18 SA home goals have arrived during the second half, with six coming in the last 30 minutes.
