Fiorentina’s 2-1 defeat versus Torino last time out made it four Serie A (SA) losses in a row, as ‘La Viola’ slip into the sort of poor form that frustrated their fans last season. Furthermore, they conceded the opener in all four matches during this run, and netted just one goal across the last three games.
The hosts have found it difficult to start well, and have scored before half-time just once in their last nine SA matches (W2, D2, L5), leading at the break in none of them. In fact with just one goal scored across the first and last 15 minutes of their SA home fixtures this season (and two conceded), don’t expect a dramatic start or finish.
Internazionale lost to Barcelona midweek, giving them a second consecutive winless game (D1, L1). Yet the ‘Nerazzurri’ have won all seven SA away matches this season despite keeping just two clean sheets, scoring at least twice in every victory. Inter have also found the net in both halves on five occasions.
The visitors have witnessed over 2.5 goals in nine of their ten competitive away matches this season (W8, L2). That’s also been the case with six of the last seven H2Hs held here, whilst two of the previous three featured over 5.5 goals!
Players to watch: All four of Federico Chiesa’s (FIO) competitive goals this season (incl. international games) came as his team’s last goalscorer. Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku (INT) has ten league goals already, with eight arriving after half-time.
Stat attack: Fiorentina have been leading at half-time just once this SA season at home (HT: W1, D4, L2).
Inter Milan have been in front at half-time in five of their seven SA away games – three saw them leading despite a -1 handicap.
The team that netted the opener has won the last four H2Hs not to end in a draw.
What time is kick off?
