Lazio vs Sassuolo – Serie A Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 32 gets under way with Lazio taking on Sassuolo on Saturday the 11th of July, 2020, at Stadio Olimpico.

It feels as if Lazio have… given up. Three days after losing 0-3 at home to AC Milan, they visited Lecce, on Tuesday, and despite taking an early lead, ended up losing 2-1(!), to a team sitting below the relegation line when the game started. Following Wednesday’s matches Lazio were still second on the table, but still seven whole points behind leaders Juventus. Their current form reads; LLWWL. Lazio have 21W, 5D and 5L, having scored 67 goals and conceded 33, which leaves them with a 34GD. Coach Simone Inzaghi chose a 3-5-2 formation against Lecce, with Ciro Immobile and Felipe Caicedo up front. The Ecuadorian scored in the 5th minute to give Lazio the lead. As for Immobile, he missed incredible chances to score.

Sassuolo visited Bologna on Wednesday and did an awesome job, picking up their third win in a row, 1-2. The victory came more easily than what the final score suggests, as Sassuolo were leading 0-2 by the 56th minute, and Bologna managed to shorten the gap only in added time. Following Wednesday’s matches Sassuolo were 8th on the table, on 43 points from 31 games. Their current form reads; WWWDD. Sassuolo have 12W, 7D and 12L, having scored 57 goals and conceded 53, which leaves them with a 4GD. Coach Roberto De Zerbi played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Bologna, with Francesco Caputo up front. It was Domenico Berardi and Luka Haraslín who scored Sassuolo’s goals, their 12th and first respectively this season in the Serie A.

The reverse fixture, which took place in November 2019, was a 1-2 Lazio victory (Caicedo scored the winner in added time). Last season, both games between these two ended in a draw, 2-2 in Rome, and 1-1 in Sassuolo.

Lazio, having lost twice in a row, are about to host a team that has earned all nine possible points from its last three matches. Under the circumstances, it won’t be a surprise to see Sassuolo leave Rome’s Olympic Stadium undefeated.

A 2-2 draw is predicted at full-time.

Date: Saturday, 11th of July, 2020.

Venue: Stadio Olimpico

Kick-off time: 17:15 (GMT+2).
